The film explores Michael Jackson’s illustrious life, his artistic genius, and his immense influence on the world of music. The teaser features Jaafar performing Jackson’s signature “moonwalk” and recreating scenes from the iconic “Thriller” music video.
According to the official synopsis, “Michael” will portray the life and legacy of one of the most influential artists in history—showing how his extraordinary talent was discovered as a child member of the Jackson 5, and how he grew to become the world’s biggest entertainer.
However, the teaser does not reference controversial chapters of his life, such as allegations of sexual abuse and legal troubles. Sources indicate that while these issues were initially included in the script, some parts were altered due to copyright and legal complexities.
The film also stars Colman Domingo and Nia Long as Michael’s parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson. Other cast members include Laura Harrier, Kat Graham, Derek Luke, Larenz Tate, and Miles Teller.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Antoine Fuqua—known for “Training Day” and “The Equalizer” series—the screenplay was written by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan.
Michael Jackson died in 2009 at age 50 from acute propofol intoxication. Produced by Lionsgate, “Michael” is set for a worldwide theatrical release on April 24, 2026.
