Eight like-minded political parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami, have demanded the retention of the amended RPO (Registration and Process of Political Parties). Party leaders announced a new program in support of their five-point demands at a joint press conference on Monday, November 3, at the office of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis in Purana Paltan, Dhaka.
At the press conference, Maulana Mamunul Haque, Amir of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, said, “Our movement will continue. We will carry out ongoing programs for the implementation of the July Charter, conducting a referendum before the national election, creating a fair playing field in the election, and fulfilling other demands.”
Maulana Mamunul Haque further stated that on Thursday, November 6, at 11 a.m., the eight parties will gather at Paltan Mor and march together to submit a memorandum to the Chief Adviser. If the demands are not met, a larger gathering will be announced later.
Present at the press conference were Syed Mohammad Rezaul Karim, Amir of Islami Andolan and Charmonai Pir, Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, Naib-e-Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Ahmad Abdul Quader, Secretary General of Khilafat Majlis, and other leaders.
Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher said, “We welcome the decision of the Advisory Council regarding the implementation of the July Charter. The Chief Adviser should act impartially as a fair referee. If the July Charter is not implemented, organizing a referendum will have no meaning.”
Charmonai Pir Mufti Syed Mohammad Rezaul Karim said, “We want measures to be taken based on the July Charter so that elections can be held in February. We appeal to everyone to sit together to resolve the issues.”
Through this program, the eight parties aim to demonstrate that they remain firm in protecting political movements and citizens’ rights.
