DU inspects Uttara area for students’ convenient housing

The administration of Dhaka University (DU) is taking various initiatives to address the long-standing student housing crisis. As part of this effort, alternative housing arrangements are being prepared for students during the construction of new halls and renovation of existing ones. Recently, a high-level delegation from the university inspected the Uttara (Diabari) residential area.

The inspection took place on Tuesday (25 November), where the delegation evaluated potential facilities, security, transportation, and infrastructure to ensure safe and suitable housing for students. The university’s public relations office stated that construction of the new hall will start soon, and proper arrangements will be made for students’ comfort and safety during ongoing renovations.

The delegation included: DU Treasurer Prof. Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Secretary of the Bridges Division & Executive Director of Bangladesh Bridge Authority Mohammad Abdur Rouf, retired Secretary (Technical & Madrasa Education Division) Dr. Kh. M. Kabirul Islam, DU Director of Accounts Mohammad Saiful Islam, Acting Chief Engineer Kazi Md. Akram Hossain, Acting Estate Manager Fatema Binte Mustafa, Transport Manager Md. Kamrul Hasan, DUCSU VP Sadiq Kayem, AGS Mohiuddin Khan, Student Transport Secretary Asif Abdullah.

The university administration continues to work to ensure safe and convenient housing for students and will make appropriate decisions after evaluating all possible options.
