Video-sharing platform YouTube is rolling out a feature to give users a more personalized experience. The experimental feature, called “Your Custom Feed,” allows users to prioritize videos based on their interests.

The feature aims to reduce inconsistencies in algorithm-based recommendations. Previously, users complained that YouTube’s algorithm often misinterpreted their interests. For example, after watching a few Disney videos, the platform might assume the user is a Disney fan and recommend many similar videos, which may not align with actual interests.

Participants in the test will see “Your Custom Feed” next to the standard “Home” button. Clicking it allows users to input prompts or keywords according to their preferences. For instance, typing “cooking” will prioritize cooking videos in the future.

This feature allows users to create a feed tailored to their interests instead of repeatedly marking videos as “Not Interested” or “Don’t recommend channel.” Its popularity remains to be seen. Other platforms like Threads and X are also experimenting with customizable feeds, allowing users to adjust algorithmic recommendations.
