Canada-based defender Samit Som has joined the Bangladesh national football team. He arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday night from Canada to participate in the friendly against Nepal on November 13 and the crucial AFC Asian Cup qualifier against India on November 18.
Samit played for Canadian club Cavalry FC until November 10 and flew directly to Bangladesh. Adapting to the sudden change from near -2°C in Canada to over 25°C in Dhaka is challenging, but the national team’s fitness coaches have implemented a special training plan to get him match-ready quickly.
He is expected to join training with the team at the National Stadium on Wednesday, November 12. Samit played his first match for the national team on June 10 against Singapore and scored in his second international appearance.
Midfielder Hamza Chowdhury has also resumed training with the team, ensuring the red-and-green squad is fully prepared for the upcoming matches against Nepal and India.
