The case names 100–150 unknown individuals as accused, and three suspicious youths were arrested by railway police on the same night. The arrested are Fahim (16), Arman (15), and Sajan (17).
According to the FIR, members of a local organization called “Palli Jagoroni Songho” blocked the railway station with about 200–250 people on Monday morning. During the blockade, the Upakul Express, traveling to Dhaka, was stopped. Later, Upazila BNP President Md. Rafiqul Islam, General Secretary Md. Ariful Islam, and Municipal BNP President Haji Shahin went to the scene and negotiated with the protesters to allow the train to depart.
However, as the train was leaving, the protesters began throwing stones at the engine and coaches. This damaged the train’s glass, headlights, side windows, and other parts, frightening the passengers.
Railway Station Master Yusuf said, “This is government property, and the damage caused by the protesters throwing stones is a state offense.”
OC of Bhairab Railway Police Station, Md. Said Ahmed, stated that the police have already arrested the three youths and are trying to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the incident.
Following the incident, locals expressed concern that such violence may occur again in the future, posing a danger to the general public. Police and administration hope to keep the situation under control.
