With the 13th National Parliamentary Election approaching, followers of BNP leaders who were initially denied nominations are continuing protest activities in various constituencies, drawing the attention of the party’s top leadership. Demonstrations include human chains, rallies, torch marches, and press conferences.
Barishal-1: Hindu community leaders held a human chain and rally demanding that Engineer Abdus Sobhan, a central committee member, be declared the final BNP candidate.
Chapainawabganj-1 (Shibganj): A human chain protested the nomination cancellation of Professor Md. Shahjahan Mia and demanded Rajshahi Division’s Organizational Secretary Syed Shahin Shawkat be nominated. Some scuffles occurred between groups.
Dhaka-20 (Dhamrai): The Nationalist Women’s League held a rally of over 10,000 women supporting nomination hopeful Yasin Ferdous Murad and called for him to be the final candidate, remembering his political struggle and contributions.
Chandpur-1 (Kachua): A counter press conference was held against former Minister Ehsanul Haq Milon regarding propaganda and derogatory statements, demanding party action.
Tangail-7 (Mirzapur): Supporters of former MP Abul Kalam Azad Siddiqui held rallies and processions demanding his nomination; extra police were deployed.
Brahmanbaria-5 (Nabinagar): Followers of nomination-denied leaders held torch marches demanding a change in party nomination, led by district BNP member Hazrat Ali.
Sirajganj-3 (Raiganj-Tarash): Supporters of hopeful Rahid Mannan Talukdar organized a “Dhanner Sheesh Public Opinion Survey” meeting, demanding former MP Lelin as the final candidate.
The party’s nomination-denied leaders have vowed not to give up and are carrying out various activities to draw central leadership attention and secure fair nominations.
