During the El Clásico match against Barcelona at Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid’s Brazilian winger Vinícius Júnior became upset when coach Xabi Alonso substituted him in the 72nd minute. His behavior on the field drew displeasure from the coach and other team members. Additionally, after the match, his argument with Barcelona star Lamine Yamal and national teammate Raphinha was not supported by many observers.
After a one-day rest following El Clásico, Vinícius returned to Real Madrid training yesterday. Before practice, he apologized to the team coach, teammates, and club president. He also assured the team management that such an incident would not happen again.
On his social media platform “X,” Vinícius addressed fans, writing:
"I apologize to all Madridistas for my reaction after being taken off the field. During training, I also apologized to my teammates, the club, and the president. Sometimes emotions get the better of me. I promise to fight for Real Madrid in every moment, just as I have done since day one."
According to Spanish media, Vinícius’ behavior has caused some irritation within Real Madrid. Following the club’s plans, if a suitable buyer is found, the possibility of letting the 25-year-old star go may be considered.
Vinícius’ apology is seen as an effort to restore peaceful relations with the team and to reaffirm his commitment to contributing fully to the club’s future success.
