Russia has warned that it will launch new large-scale “systematic attacks” on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv. This warning came just days after Moscow carried out one of the largest recent strikes on Kyiv.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry said that the new targets will include “decision-making centers, military command posts, and drone production factories” in Kyiv.

Moscow has urged foreign nationals and diplomats to leave Kyiv immediately and advised civilians to stay away from administrative and military buildings.

Russia claims its recent strikes were retaliatory responses to earlier Ukrainian attacks.

Ukraine has described this warning as “shameless blackmail.” Kyiv stated that Russia is attempting to create fear among diplomatic missions and civilians and called on the international community to increase pressure on Moscow.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that recent major Russian attacks killed at least four people and injured nearly 100 across various regions including Kyiv.

Russia, on the other hand, claims that these attacks were a response to a previous Ukrainian strike.

Both sides continue to accuse each other of targeting civilian areas. Ukraine says it targeted Russian military drone units but denies attacking civilian infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Russia has launched further missile and drone attacks, claiming significant damage in Kyiv, including residential areas, markets, shopping centers, and cultural sites.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has urged the United States to withdraw its diplomats from Kyiv. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said negotiations to end the war are still possible but the situation remains highly complex.

Analysts say that due to renewed threats and counter positions, the war in Ukraine is becoming more prolonged and uncertain. Although diplomatic solutions are still being discussed, military tensions continue to rise.
