New Harry Potter Series in 2027; 10-Year Production Plan

Daniel Radcliffe, known for portraying Harry Potter, has revealed that he sent a letter to Dominic MacLafflin, the actor selected to play Harry Potter in a new TV series.

Radcliffe said that after the young actor was finalized, he wrote directly to MacLafflin, offering congratulations to the new cast and co-actors: “I just want to give them a hug.”

MacLafflin later sent Radcliffe “a very sweet note.” Radcliffe said, “I didn’t want these kids to see a shadow of me in their lives, I just wanted to say—have an even better time than I did. I had a wonderful time, but I hope they enjoy it even more.”

Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout will play Ron Weasley. Radcliffe said, “Looking at these young actors, I just want to hug them. They’re so young, it’s hard to believe I did this at that age. But it’s very sweet, and I hope they are enjoying themselves.”

Around 30,000 children auditioned during last year’s casting call. The newly selected cast—MacLafflin, Stanton, and Stout—are mostly newcomers. MacLafflin previously acted in the Sky comedy show GRO, Stanton worked in the West End musical Matilda, and Stout has no prior experience.

Other cast members include Lox Pratt (Draco Malfoy), Alessia Leoni (Parvati Patil), Leo Early (Seamus Finnigan), Rory Wilmott (Neville Longbottom), and Amos Kitson (Dudley Dursley). Adult roles include John Lithgow (Albus Dumbledore), Janet McTeer (Minerva McGonagall), Papa Essiedu (Severus Snape), and Nick Frost (Rubeus Hagrid).

Filming for the new series has already begun, and it will air in 2027. The production is expected to last about 10 years, as each of J.K. Rowling’s seven books will inspire a separate series. Warner Bros Studio Leavesden has established a temporary school for child actors so they can continue their real-life studies while not on the Hogwarts set.
