A man has died after a shark attack off the northeastern Queensland coast of Australia, police confirmed. The incident occurred on Sunday local time at Kennedy Shoals, a shallow coral area about 45 kilometers offshore.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said the man was brought to shore by boat in critical condition after being bitten by a shark. He was later declared dead by medical personnel. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

Local media reports said several nearby beaches have been temporarily closed following the incident, and authorities are reviewing safety conditions.

This is the second fatal shark attack in Australia in recent days. On May 16, a 38-year-old man was killed in a shark attack off Perth, Western Australia.

Statistics show that shark attacks occur more frequently along Australia’s eastern and southeastern coasts. According to the country’s health and welfare data, around 20 shark attacks are recorded annually on average.

The incident has raised concern among locals, with calls for stronger safety measures in coastal areas.
