Madk Films has introduced a new horizon in India’s horror-comedy genre. Following the success of Stree and Stree 2, their new movie Thama released during Diwali. The franchise’s total revenue has now crossed 1,500 crore rupees, announced by the production company on social media.

Madk Films’ horror-comedy universe is now India’s fourth-highest-grossing film franchise. The success of Thama has surpassed Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe (1,411 crore rupees) and the KGF franchise (1,420 crore rupees). However, the top position remains with Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe, which has earned over 3,000 crore rupees.

Thama stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. The film earned 180 crore rupees in 20 days. Previous franchise hits like Munja, Vedia, and Stree 2 also earned over 100 crore rupees, although Vedia, critically acclaimed, earned only 95 crore rupees.

The franchise poster features all main actors—Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkumar Rao, Varun Dhawan, and Ayushmann Khurrana—with the headline celebrating: “1,500 crore!” The company expressed gratitude and invited audiences to watch Thama in theaters.

Over the next five years, Madk’s horror-comedy universe plans at least eight new projects, including sequels, new stories like Shakti Shalini, Chamunda, and a two-part crossover set for 2029.

This initiative has reinvigorated the horror-comedy genre in Hindi cinema and excited audiences.
