Everton Achieve Historic 10-Man Victory at Old Trafford in English Premier League

Everton celebrated their first Premier League victory at Manchester United’s Old Trafford in 12 years. Within just 13 minutes of the match, midfielder Idrissa Gueye received a red card for slapping teammate Michael Keane. Despite being reduced to 10 men, Everton secured a 1-0 win with a brilliant first-half goal by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Although United dominated possession, they could not convert opportunities in the second half. Everton’s defense was solid, and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford made several key saves, including stopping Joshua Zirkzee’s header in the final 10 minutes.

Everton captain Seamus Coleman had to leave the pitch due to injury just 10 minutes into the game. The incident between Gueye and Keane three minutes later was also unusual; such events have not occurred in the Premier League since 2008.

Despite numerical advantage, United failed to score, while 10-man Everton did. Dewsbury-Hall’s solo effort saw him dribble past Bruno Fernandes and Lenny Yaro before scoring.

After the match, Dewsbury-Hall said, “It was a rollercoaster. The team played brilliantly and worked hard. Winning three points is a real joy.” He added that Gueye has apologized to the team. United defender Matthijs de Ligt commented, “Even playing 70 minutes against 10 men, we couldn’t create many chances. It feels like a step back for us.”

The victory moves Everton above Liverpool to 11th place with 18 points, tied with United, but United leads on goal difference.
