Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A. M. M. Nasir Uddin has stated that the Election Commission (EC) is taking the highest level of preparation ahead of the 13th National Election. He said that any attempt to sabotage or obstruct the election will be dealt with strictly.

Speaking to journalists after inspecting the “BGB Election Training and Drill” at the BGB Headquarters in Pilkhana on Wednesday morning, the CEC said, “We are alert about those trying to question or obstruct the election. The Election Commission will take all necessary measures.”

The BGB has stated that 1,210 platoon members will be deployed across the country for the upcoming parliamentary elections. The training and drill aim to maintain law and order at polling stations, take prompt action in unstable situations, and ensure security.

The CEC added, “All forces, including police, Ansar-VDP, and BGB, are preparing for the elections. These drills play a crucial role in enhancing their skills. We want each force to perform their duties properly.”

Reaffirming the commitment to a fair, peaceful, and neutral election, Nasir Uddin said, “With the cooperation of law enforcement, journalists, and nearly 130 million voters, a free and fair election is possible.” When asked about law and order, the CEC confidently added that as the election draws closer, the situation will become more normal and controlled.

BGB public relations officer Shariful Islam stated that out of 115 border-upazilas, the BGB will independently handle elections in 60 areas. Except for three isolated island upazilas – Sandwip, Hatia, and Kutubdia – BGB members will be deployed in all upazilas. The CEC was accompanied by other election commissioners, the senior secretary of the Election Commission, BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuljaman Siddiqui, officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, and senior BGB officers during the inspection. After the inspection, the CEC interacted with BGB members at Shaheed Shakil Ahmed Hall.
