PNN News Desk | Dhaka:
Dhaka University (DU) administration has temporarily suspended security guards at five entrances over negligence, following a gate-locking incident by student leaders of the banned Chhatra League.

Suspended guards include:

  • Md. Shah Alam & Md. Selim, Security, Institute of Education and Research

  • Md. Sangram Hossain, Middle Gate, Faculty of Fine Arts

  • Md. Saiful Islam, Nutrition and Food Science Faculty

  • Md. Ali Ahmed, Rear Gate, Karzon Hall

They were also issued show-cause notices.

DU Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed said, “They have been temporarily suspended due to negligence. Efforts are ongoing to identify the Chhatra League members involved. CCTV footage has been collected, and those responsible will be quickly identified.”

The incident occurred on the night of 11 November, when the banned student organization locked the gates as part of a “lockdown” program. DU administration identified weaknesses in security and took immediate measures.

Authorities stated that additional security personnel will be deployed, and monitoring will be strengthened to prevent similar incidents in the future.
