Crude Bomb Blast Targets NCP Vehicle in Dhaka: Attack Allegedly Aimed at July Procession

A crude bomb (cocktail) explosion occurred beneath the temporary central office of the National Citizens' Party (NCP) at Banglamotor, Dhaka, on Wednesday night. Party officials allege that the attack specifically targeted a vehicle designated for the NCP's upcoming July procession organized by the Dhaka Metropolitan unit.

At 11:49 PM on July 2, 2025, the incident was first reported via a message in an NCP-operated WhatsApp group. The message stated, “A cocktail exploded targeting the vehicle of NCP Dhaka Metropolitan’s July march in front of the central office in Dhaka. In protest, a demonstration was held at 12:30 AM in front of the party office.”

NCP’s temporary headquarters is located on the 16th floor of Rupayan Trade Center, Banglamotor.

When contacted, Sub-Inspector Kamrul Hasan of Ramna Police Station confirmed the incident. “A crude bomb exploded near the back of a vehicle just before midnight,” he said. Police responded promptly to the scene. However, no one witnessed how the explosion occurred or whether someone threw the device, he added. Authorities are currently investigating the matter.

Notably, this is not the first attack on the party. On June 23, another cocktail attack was reported targeting NCP leaders and activists in front of the same building. The party claimed that at least two people were injured in that incident.
