A new controversy has arisen over Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman collaborating with dance director Jani Master. The news has sparked criticism among celebrity and entertainment fans.

The controversy started on November 9, when Jani Master shared photos on Instagram with A.R. Rahman and Peddy film director Buchi Babu Sana. In the caption, Jani wrote: “We grew up dancing to legendary @arrahman sir’s songs, and I never imagined I would get to choreograph this hit #ChikiriChikiri to his music.”

The collaboration drew criticism because Jani Master had previously been accused of sexually harassing an underage assistant dance director in 2020. Critics questioned why Rahman is comfortable working with him now, despite earlier allegations against another collaborator, Tamil lyricist Vairamuthu, leading to Rahman stopping work with him.

The Peddy film’s Chikiri Chikiri song was recently released, featuring actors Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor. It gained 46 million views across multiple languages within 24 hours. Music was composed by A.R. Rahman, Mohit Chauhan, and A.R. Ameen, with Jani Master responsible for the hook step choreography.

The film, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, revolves around rural cricket and will release in theaters on March 27, 2026. Critics argue that such decisions raise questions of ethics in the film and entertainment industry, especially when a senior composer collaborates with a controversial figure.
