Bodies of grandmother and two grandchildren recovered from chicken coop in Lobonchara; youth shot dead in Sonadanga

In Khulna city, two shocking murders occurred in different locations on the same day. Police recovered a total of four bodies from incidents in Sonadanga and Lobonchara police precincts on Sunday (16 November) evening.

In Ward 31 of Lobonchara, three bodies were recovered from a chicken coop after family members went missing from a home on Darbesh Molla Lane. The deceased were identified as Mahidunnesa (55), her granddaughter Fatiha (6), and grandson Mustaqim (8).

Rubie Begum, mother of the children, said she left them at their grandmother’s house in the morning before going to work. Returning in the evening and not finding them, she began searching. Later, she found their bodies inside the chicken coop and shouted for help, prompting neighbors to call the police.

Police recovered the bodies and sent them to the morgue. Investigators are examining whether the killings were premeditated or linked to a family dispute.

Meanwhile, at Karimnagar More in Sonadanga Thana area, armed assailants shot dead 35-year-old Alauddin Mridha in front of his house around 7:30 pm. He was sitting on the stairs with his wife at the time.

SI Sumon Howlader of Sonadanga Model Thana said 6–7 armed individuals entered the house, spoke briefly with Alauddin, and then suddenly opened fire before fleeing. Alauddin was shot twice in the chest and abdomen, and later his throat was slashed. Three bullet shells were recovered from the scene.

Investigators noted that Alauddin had previously been involved in drug trafficking and had recently been released on bail. It is not yet clear whether this killing was due to prior enmity or other reasons.

Rashidul Islam Khan, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime & Ops) of Khulna Metropolitan Police, said, “These incidents are completely separate. The bodies have been sent for autopsy. We are working to identify those involved in these murders.”
