Mohammad Tariqul Islam Tarik, the central joint general secretary of the BNP-affiliated Student League and former elected general secretary of Salimullah Muslim Hall Student League, has organized a unique program to promote the legacy of BNP’s founder, the martyred President Ziaur Rahman, among the new generation.
On the occasion of the historic National Revolution and Solidarity Day, an informative compiled booklet titled “Visionary: A Great Leader and Guide of Bangladesh’s Path, Ziaur Rahman” was published on Friday afternoon. Tarik then distributed over 500 copies of the booklet.
The booklets were handed out to worshippers at Dhaka University’s central mosque, students in front of the central library, and at various locations around the university including Hakim Chattar, the Arts Building, Mall Chattar, and the Faculty of Business. The foreword of the booklet was written by former Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Anwarullah Chowdhury.
Speaking about this unique initiative, Tarik said, “While distributing educational materials among street children one day, I suddenly remembered that the martyred President Ziaur Rahman was a pillar of support for the underprivileged in society. From that moment, I thought that if a booklet about this visionary leader could be placed in the hands of the general public, it would be meaningful.”
He added, “The foundation of the state of Bangladesh is based on the visionary thoughts of its founders. My small effort aims to spread awareness of this visionary among the people.”
Tarik also mentioned that extensive research has been done on Ziaur Rahman, including the writings of the late respected political scientist Professor Dr. Emazuddin Ahmed.
