Bangladesh’s U–17 team continues to shine in the AFC U–17 Asian Cup qualifiers. Today, at the Yongchuan Sports Center in China, the Red-Green team defeated Brunei 8–0 for their second consecutive win.
From the start, Bangladesh played attacking football, leading 4–0 by halftime. In the second half, the team maintained momentum and scored four more goals to secure a massive victory.
Rifat Kazi and Apu Rahman scored braces, while Mohammad Manik, Alif Rahman, Nazmul Huda, and Bayezid Bostami also added a goal each.
With six points from two matches, Bangladesh leads the group. Their third match is scheduled against Sri Lanka on Wednesday. In the six-team group, Bangladesh’s remaining opponents are Bahrain and hosts China.
Next May, the main round in Saudi Arabia will feature 16 teams. So far, nine teams have qualified, while the remaining seven will emerge from this qualifying stage. Previously, Bangladesh reached the main round twice at U–17 level and four times at U–16 level but never advanced past the group stage. This time, the U–17 team aims to make history by topping the group and qualifying for the main event.
