Bangladesh Advances with Mushfiq’s Century and Liton’s Fifth Hundred

In the first innings of the second Test, the Bangladesh cricket team scored a massive 476 runs, highlighted by a record-breaking century from Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das completing his fifth career century.

When the second day began, Mushfiqur set the pace. He scored 106 before being dismissed by Humphreys, having put together a crucial 108-run partnership with Liton Das, bringing the team to 310 for the fifth wicket.

Liton Das then anchored the innings, scoring 128 runs with 8 fours and 2 sixes, marking his fifth career century. He shared a 133-run partnership with Miraz, who contributed 47 runs before being dismissed by Hoy, ending the partnership.

Liton Das was dismissed by Paul Sterling four balls later, leaving Bangladesh at 433 for the seventh wicket. Late contributions from Taijul Islam and Hasan Murad could not significantly add to the score.

Andy McBrine of Ireland became the second bowler to achieve a five-wicket haul in the match. The partnership between Mushfiqur and Liton played a pivotal role in setting up Bangladesh’s large total.
