The army conducted a special operation at Geneva Camp in Mohammadpur on Wednesday night, recovering a large quantity of explosives and drugs.
According to sources at the Baily’s Army Camp, intelligence indicated that top drug dealer and arms-holder Bunya Sohel was preparing to make and sell cocktails at a house in Geneva Camp. Based on this information, four army teams launched the raid at 12:30 AM.
Sohel fled upon sensing the army’s presence. The operation continued until 2:30 AM. Authorities seized 77 cocktail units in preparation, four types of splinters, 400 grams of gunpowder, four samurai-style swords, 490 yaba tablets, 2,080 heroin packets, and a large amount of cash.
The recovered drugs, explosives, and cash are being handed over to Mohammadpur police. Joint forces continue operations to apprehend the main suspect, Sohel.
An officer from the 46th Independent Infantry Brigade stated that the explosives were intended for terrorist acts in Dhaka. He added that operations to arrest the suspects will continue.
