11 arrested in Gomastapur in special police operation including political activists

In Gomastapur Upazila, Chapainawabganj, the police conducted a special operation at multiple locations, arresting 11 people including political activists. The arrests were carried out during day and night raids on Thursday (20 November).

According to police, among the arrested were three local political activists, three individuals wanted in drug-related cases, and five others with active warrants.

The political activists arrested include Momin Biswas, acting general secretary of Gomastapur Upazila Jubo League, Shakil, a student league leader, and Rubel, an Awami League worker.

Gomastapur police officer-in-charge (OC) Farid Ahmed said the raids were part of routine operations targeting identified areas. “All arrested individuals were sent to jail through the court on Friday,” he said. Police also stated that operations will continue to maintain law and order.
